Break: FULL LYRICS POSTED!

CLICKY HERE FOR THE LYRICS!
[Just choose BREAK and then the song you want from the track list!]

I know, I know: ABOUT TIME, KIMBERLY!!!

Here *finally* are all of the lyrics to our latest and greatest album, Break!!! Yay!!!

This is a songwriter's album.. Alot of it is based on my acoustic stuff, and ironically is much heavier than anything I've put out to date. Resurrection is a great example of that. We took the lightest, sweetest acoustic song I have and turned it into an intense metal ballad. Airplane man was totally a Beatlesey acoustic ditty until a fan on the forums inspired me to rock it out. :) SO GLAD I DID!

Hope you enjoy! Take full advantage of the FORUMS, and discuss your favorites!

Love and Gratitude,
kimberly

One-Eyed Doll Live At The Saint [New Jersey]
by John Pfeiffer, The Aquarian
May 6, 2010
[link]

One-Eyed Doll is an Austin-based band that restored my faith in music this week at the Saint on April 16. Part glam, part punk and a whole lotta guitar talent; One Eyed Doll has the power to make you want to be part of their tribe, and it’s happening all over the country. Out on a jaunt that takes them through New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Missouri and Oklahoma, this is a seasoned oddity that knows how to draw an audience out if its shell and down the aisles of salvation.

From her direct interaction with fans in the audience to her dexterity on guitar, Kimberly Freeman is a curious dark star. At around 5’2” and weighing 98 lbs, this diminutive powerhouse emits vocal tonality and riff expertise rivaling any of the big boys out there today. And while she might be small, she has a larger than life story of experiences that gives her music a rough and beautiful quality. From medical testing for cash to living in a van and playing guitar for gas money, she’s lived through it all.

One cool thing Freeman likes to do is direct the usual audience focus into a different direction, jumping off the stage and saying, “I have something to show you, come with me.” She then led the entire Saint crowd to the back of the room, where she got up on the bar and sang “a capella” to the throng in one of the most soul-baring displays of intimacy this old dog has seen in years. It’s a risky move to leave the band and redirect, but Freeman pulls it off without a hitch as noted by the emotive audience gasps and head shaking.

But the level of ass kickery portrayed by this band began a good 45 minutes before that emotional point in the night, starting with the very first blast from these Texas anomalies. This is three-piece rock the way it should be done. No nonsense, no noodling filler or precocious fidgeting. One Eyed Doll hits you right in the face with what I perceive to be a cross breeding of early Jane’s Addiction, Siouxsie and The Banshees, and The Breeders all balled up into one intense, leather-gloved punch. The band’s level of presence is high, and you have to watch them closely because they really make it look too god dammed easy.

Guitarist/vocalist Freeman stomps, back splits and high jumps around the small stage like she’s memorized its boundaries hours beforehand. And even while she’s rolling around on the floor or whipping her three-foot ponytail in vicious windmills, she never misses a note. Her guitar playing style is reminiscent of Dave Navarro and has earned her an endorsement from Tregan Guitars, a solid American company out of Chambersburg, PA. The background machinery of bassist PJ Evans, aka “Number Three,” and drummer Jason Rufuss Sewell, aka “Junior,” rumbles like clockwork as she breaks down in her performance cacophony on tunes like “Suicidal Serenade,” “Murder Ballad” or “Fight.”

The band’s new album Break is the fifth release by the Austin trio and shows sick levels of originality and drive, featuring 12 tracks of well-produced madness. One-Eyed Doll is definitely on the fast track to major success.

PJ Evans Retires from One-Eyed Doll

PJ Evans, AKA Number Three joined One-Eyed Doll on April 14, 2007 and has been my longest lasting band mate to date! For three years, I've electrocuted, cut, spit on, slapped and battered him relentlessly. Being my stage partner takes an inhuman supply of patience, determination and love - and especially a high tolerance for physical pain.... even an affection thereof. :)

I've enjoyed PJ's personal company and musical talents equally and am so very grateful for the time we've been blessed to have together on stage. I knew from the beginning that my partner's vast talents and interests would provide better opportunities for him eventually - and I've in fact anticipated gladly that One-Eyed Doll would be but a small step in his life's great journey.

We are all celebrating this change as a positive and happy one! PJ will have some time to focus on his personal life and goals outside of this life-altering/all-encompassing obsession of mine called One-Eyed Doll for the first time in almost three years! This is not bad news by any means, but a step in the right direction in all of our minds. I hope that the contacts and opportunities that One-Eyed Doll have opened up to him will provide him with all he needs to launch and find success in his own creative projects and ambitions!!

Of course, I'll continue One-Eyed Doll, full steam ahead with Junior at my side and with the support of YOU: my amazing fans. All shows are ON!

Of course it may take some time for you fans to adjust to the changes, and I'm looking forward to adjusting right along with you, with YOUR help! We'll all miss Number Three's presence on stage, but we are even luckier now to have him around as a beloved friend and One-Eyed Doll alumni. I'm so excited to see what the future holds for PJ and for One-Eyed Doll. He'll always be a member of my rock and roll family, and he continues to be one of my greatest companions.

Thank you, PJ for all that you've given to me since we met at Elysium in 2006. I was just a girl with a guitar and a couple of cardboard cut-outs, trying to make some noise.. well, alot of noise. :) Your support and love has meant the world to me, and I'll never be able to fully express my gratitude. You were TOTALLY there for me, my only support at times through hardships that only you and I will ever truly understand. You've been there with me through some of the greatest moments of joy in my life, on stage and off. You're my dear and true friend, and I love you more than the confines of time and space could limit.

HUGE THANKS to all of the loyal fans who [like PJ] have supported my crazy career through several line-ups and huge changes.. Thank you for always being at my side - through the rollercoaster evolution of my person and art.. I am the luckiest girl in the whole world to have such a family. I hope to someday have the proper words to express my love and gratitude for you all. Thank you for being my whole world, the love of my life.

We're playing shows tomorrow and Saturday in Dallas and Tulsa.. We're gonna two-piece it this weekend and roll with the punches from there.. I will need your support MORE THAN EVER in upcoming shows as we work out these changes and find our balance. One-Eyed Doll fans, this is your chance to really unite with me and help me rise to the challenge!

My most sincere congratulations go out to PJ.. I am overwhelmed with excitement and positivity for him as he continues on!!

I leave you with a special treat: Video footage of PJ's first show, taken at Headhunters on April 14, 2007!!!! This was his audition, caught on film by the amazing Radames Pera!

Love and Gratitude,
kimberly

Announcing DavidJr.com's FREE One-Eyed Doll Documentary

Hello to our precious Dollheads!!!!!

We’re currently sitting in a coffee shop outside of Nashville, TN on our 5th day of tour, and we have some exciting news that some of you might not have heard:

For the last couple of years during our various recordings, local shows and One-Eyed Doll’s New England tour of 2009, film maker Davidjr.com has tagged along and captured a snapshot of us in the studio, backstage at shows, and endless hours on the road documenting the hardships and triumphs of life as a nationally touring band.

For the last few months, Davidjr.com has been busy compiling that footage together to make a full-length documentary about One-Eyed Doll in the cutting edge, in-your-face way that only Davidjr.com can pull off. And as a gift to the world, rather than sell the movie on DVD he has graciously decided make the full movie available to everyone on YouTube.

Davidjr.com’s official announcement…

“Punk rock meets poetics in an intimate view of Austin, Texas underground rock star, Kimberly Freeman, a beauty with an irresistible voice, magnetism and moves, who delivers a range of soulful original songs that reflect on her personal story and have a transforming influence on her fans.”

We are very excited about this movie. It’s already getting tons of rave reviews from fans as well as movie critics and people who are experiencing One-Eyed Doll for the first time. The film is featured on BoingBoing, YouTube, Westword and tons of other sites that are elevating it to be the next underground cult blockbuster hit.

Let’s keep the momentum going! We can let big websites like The New York Times, Rolling Stone and CNN know about the film by contacting them using the following links. Be sure to ask them when the story or review is coming out:

New York Times: nytimes@nytimes.com
Rolling Stone: editors@rollingstone.com
CNN: CNN Website

We are honored that we, along with all of our dollhead fans can unite together with Davidjr.com’s “One-Eyed Doll: The Rockumentry”

So go check it out and leave a comment! Let everyone know what you think :-D !!!!!!
